Well, it’s official. The Instagram Subscription feature is officially available for all creators who can qualify.
After softly launching its Subscriptions feature earlier this year, Instagram has given it the ol’ thumbs-up approval, and now if you’re a qualified creator, you can start charging your followers for exclusive Instagram content.
Yay!
What are Instagram Subscriptions?
Let’s start off with the basics—what are Instagram Subscriptions? According to Instagram’s @creators page, “Subscriptions allow creators to earn recurring, predictable income and connect with their most engaged followers, by offering exclusive content and experiences—all in one place.”

At the moment, Subscriptions are only available to those that are eligible in the US but Instagram will soon be testing it in the UK, Canada, and Australia.
What kind of content do you get with Instagram Subscriptions?
For subscribers, you’ll get access to exclusive content from your favorite creators like:
- Posts
- Lives
- Stories
- Reels
- Group Chats
So you’ll feel more connected and in the know with the creator you subscribe to.
How do you subscribe to a creator on Instagram?
If you want to subscribe to a creator’s exclusive content, there will be a new “subscribe” button at the top of their profile. The creator will set a monthly price for you to pay and from there, you’ll get all of their exclusive posts.
As a subscriber, you’ll get access to a special badge to help you stand out amongst the crowd in the creators’ comments and DMs.
Who is eligible for Instagram Subscriptions?
At the moment, only those in the US can have access to subscriptions, however, UK, Australia, and Canada are going to start testing before rolling out in those countries.
If you want to create a Subscription for your page, you must:
- Have at least 10K followers
- Be over 18
- Have a professional account (learn how to switch to one here.)
- Meet Instagram’s Partner Monetization Policy and Community Guidelines
How much can creators make from Instagram Subscriptions?
There are eight different price points a creator can select when pricing out their subscription content ranging from $0.99 to $99.99 per month.
The payments for the subscriptions will be taken through in-app purchases on iOS and Android. And the best part? Instagram isn’t taking a cut of the profits at the moment, but we all know that could soon change.
It really seems like Instagram is trying to stay top of the game when it comes to helping out creators and getting them the $$$ they deserve. What do you think?
