Yesterday, Instagram announced a few new features they will be rolling out this week across both its Feed and Reels. The new features include creator-focused additions that allow users to collaborate with one another, raise funds and make better use of music on Reels. Instagram also announced that it will make its desktop website more usable by allowing people to finally be able to post both photos and videos that are less than one minute from their desktop browser. Huzzah!
The features will be rolled out all week, starting with “Collabs.” The test feature (yes, it’s still in test mode) allows users to co-author both Feed posts and Reels. What in the world does that mean? Well, users can invite another account to be a collaborator from the tagging screen on Instagram.
If the other person accepts, both accounts will appear in the post of the Reels header and content will be shared to both sets of followers. One post for the price of two sets of followers? Count us in.
Starting today, Instagram will begin testing new ways to create fundraisers for nonprofits. How? By allowing you to start a fundraiser directly from the home screen through the creation button. When you tap this option, you’ll be able to select a nonprofit and add the fundraiser to your Feed post.
Later on this week, IG will introduce new features for Reels: Superbeat and Dynamic Lyrics. These will help creators who edit and perform using music on Reels.
Superbeat will apply special effects to music to the beat of the user’s song while Dynamic Lyrics will display lyrics that will flow with the song’s “groove,” Instagram explained. Sounds like they’re desperately trying to keep up with TikTok, if you ask us. The new Reels features will coincide with the official launch of being able to post from Instagram’s desktop app.
What do you think of the new features? Are you excited? Feeling meh about it? Let us know over on our Instagram! If you’re looking for new ways to boost your Instagram Reels, we’ve got everything you need to know to make sure you’re getting the most out of your Reels.
