Well, it seems like Metaās AI celebrities arenāt quite what people were expecting. Itās kind of ⦠creepy? And feels very much like weāre in another episode of Black Mirror. Ā Meta announced last month that it will now offer chatbots that mimic celebrities. However, the celebrities wonāt be themselves, but someone else who only looks like them. Ā Confused yet? Same. Ā
Snoop Dogg has become a Dungeons and Dragons Master. Kendall Jenner is now āBillie,ā your fellow fighter to the death. And there are many more that also ⦠donāt quite make sense. Ā
If Meta thought the AI chatbots were going to be something everyone was going to love, they seriously misjudged how slightly (VERY!) creepy the chatbots are. Especially as no one can tell if the videos are actually of the celebrities, or if AI created the videos. Ā It seems that Meta paid five million dollars for something that no one really likes ⦠or wants. š¬

Threads making a comeback? š |
Meta keeps working on making Threads a cool app, and after this week, could it finally be happening? Ā With X seemingly going down the toilet (yikesā¦), Threads had its highest downloads last week since it was originally released.Ā And now it is releasing more features to keep its users happy.
Ā One of the most requested features has officially rolled out this weekāyou can finally edit your Thread! Ā However, there is a time limit similar to X. Once you send a Thread out into the world, you have exactly five minutes to edit and then times up. Ā
It seems Threads has the same concern as X where you can edit a post and completely change the meaning behind the Thread. To combat that from happening, a time limit and an icon to indicate the Thread has been edited will be how users can identify if something has been changed. Ā
Other key features being released inside Threads are āVoice Threads,ā which is just what it sounds like ⦠voice notes as a Thread. Along with in-stream GIFs, polls, and the one weāre most excited about, Trending Topics. Ā
Will the new push away from X end up helping Threads in the long run? Or will people be heading towards other platforms like Artifact or Bluesky? š¤ |

Ā The new ads donāt allow users to like, retweet, comment, block, or report. And honestly? Thereās no actual disclosure that the ad is, in fact, an ad. Ā Um, isnāt that ⦠against the internet laws? š¬ Ā The new ads being served have caused quite a stir on X ā and have even inspired some great memes across the platform. Ā
If this is the state of ads on the platform, where people canāt even engage with the content, it does seem quite telling that X is massively struggling when it comes to getting advertisers to buy. |
