What are Instagram presets?
Instagram presets are filters you can use on your Instagram posts. The presets are a series of different filters you can use on your photos to make sure your feed looks consistent.
Instagram has its own presets you can use through its app, or there are plenty of other presets that you find online. When it comes to presets, we recommend that you use either the same one or very similar ones when youâre creating content to create that cohesive look across your feed.
The best part? Presets can be downloaded on your computer or phone, so it can be a quick and easy way for you to quickly edit and upload your photo to your feed.
You can also create your own presets for Instagram if you canât find a preset you actually like. The photo editing app Lightroom is a really easy way for you to create your own presets.

One of the biggest reasons is that youâll save so much time when you use presets. Instead of spending hours editing and trying to figure out what kind of look you want for your photo, you can add one of your presets to the photo.

When people scroll through your feed, making sure that every photo uses the same type of filter or preset will give your feed a strong identity. I know, I know. Duh. But even the best presets canât save a bad photo, so make sure the quality and size are good, youâve got the subject in frame, thereâs enough natural light, and itâs not blurry (unless the blurry effect is what youâre going forâthen by all means!).
Make adjustments
Just because youâre using a preset, it doesnât mean that itâs going to look great on every single photo you use. Sometimes, like in life, you need to make some slight tweaks and adjustments to make it work for you! Play around with the exposure, reduce the shadows, straighten, crop, whatever your little heart desires!
