Threads is coming to the EU 🎉 |
You’ve done your waiting, EU, and it’s finally coming to a phone near you—Threads! ✨
According to The Wall Street Journal, Meta is planning on releasing Threads this month to the EU. Threads weren’t originally released in the EU because of the ever-changing privacy regulations, but now it seems like the company is throwing its hat in the ring and hoping for the best.
How is it getting around those pesky data regulations? By letting users opt out of making their own posts. Yup, you can create an account where you can’t interact at all, or choose to interact and have your data taken. Seems like a fair trade off. 🙃
While Meta hasn’t confirmed the release this month, it does seem like Threads will be coming to the EU before the holidays. |

Elon’s no good, very bad day 😬 |
Uh-oh. That’s all I have to say.
After a flood of advertisers left X saying they weren’t going to be advertising on the platform any longer based on a tweet Elon Musk posted (and then apologized for), Musk took to the stage (literally). At The New York Times’ DealBook Summit last week, Musk explained that advertisers who pulled out of X can “go f*** yourself” (ouch) and said the “advertising boycott is gonna … kill the company” (double ouch).
With more and more advertisers pulling their funds, it does feel like X is very much hanging on by a thread (and not the Meta kind). As much as the company is trying to pull in funding from subscriptions, it will need a whole lot more subscribers and advertisers to come back to not, like Musk says, "kill the company." 🫠 |

So long and farewell, TikTok ban 👋 |
Montana tried and very much failed to get TikTok banned in its state. After the government pushed forward a bill to get the clock app banned, TikTok users said “not so fast there,” which led to the court challenge. A judge has officially blocked the state’s ban of the app, starting that the bill is unconstitutional to the first amendment.
After this ruling, it seems like the US government could have a tough time trying to get TikTok banned across the board. But, that doesn’t mean they won’t try and try and try again. |
It's a holiday miracle, ya'll! |
