Uh, talk about a chaotic week. Elon Musk has made headlines once again (yeah, you'll soon read why) and while most platforms are steering FAR AWAY from news—it looks like YouTube is jumping head first.

The time has come to take a small break from your typical social media scroll and instead scroll the latest and greatest social media news... 🙃

What the X? 🫠

When Musk spoke about eliminating bots on X and having users pay to join, I didn’t think he meant this soon.

New users in the Philippines and New Zealand officially have to pay $1 per year to join the platform. While that doesn’t sound like much money, it is a strange turn of events to have a platform that was once free to join to now ask new users to cough up a small fee.

The new “Not A Bot” program is to help “bolster our already significant effort to reduce spam, manipulation or our platform and bot activity,” X explained.

Will anyone be willing to pay money to post on X or will the platform see an even greater decline in users? I’m willing to bet the latter… 😬

Meta apparently thinks Broadcast Channels are #worthit. It’s now bringing Broadcast Channels to Facebook and Messenger.

It looks like Threads might be cool again... 🧐

Honestly, I never thought I would say it but … is Threads actually cool again?

With the slow death march of X, it seems like Meta is working hard on making Threads the place for people to share updates, post random thoughts and ideas, engage with other users, and basically do the things that users used to do on X.

In the past week alone, Threads has launched a new paid partnership tag and you can now even tag Instagram users inside the platform. It’s also on the verge of launching DMs, trending topics, pinned posts, and Giphy integrations to make communicating that much more fun.

Will it soon be the “It” platform it was when it first launched or will it go back to being an app on your phone that you never actually open?
