Oh, boy. Is there really a need for an intro for a week as hot and zesty as last week was? Yeah, maybe a short one…

Social media news was firing on all cylinders and wowowowow, do we have a lot to go through! Buckle up, baby. You’ll need a drink for this one. 

Well, it’s the talk of the town … well, the interwebs. Last week after people have started getting officially frustrated at all the continuous changes Instagram keeps making, a petition started going around about making Instagram stay Instagram. Or what Instagram used to be: a photo-sharing app. 

And it wasn’t just random people sharing the petition, it was also celebrities. Namely little known people called Kylie Jenner and Kim Kardashian. 

After everything that happened with the stock price dropping after Kylie tweeted about Snapchat being boring, Instagram was immediately on the ball about addressing everything happening over on IG and trying to calm users. Let’s just say … it didn’t go over too well. 

Head of Instagram, Adam Mosseri explained all the features its testing and why the platform has changed throughout the years. And with people aggressively sliding into his DMs and tweeting at him and commenting under his video … Instagram soon rolled back some of the new features it has been testing. 

Is this a start to Instagram listening to its users or just saving face?

After Instagram got a lot of flack, it’s not the only app taking a major hit the past week. For the first time ever, ever, ever, Facebook has reported a drop in revenue. 

Woof.

After over a decade of nonstop growth, it seems like the time has come to an end after a 1 percent drop and numbers not looking great for Q3. 

It seems that Apple’s “Ask app not to track” prompts on iPhone have made Facebook ads less effective and have cost Meta $10 BILLION in ad revenue.

Double woof. 

After Reels have proven to be a better engager for the platform, it seems like Zuck is putting all his eggs in the Reels basket to help boost revenue once more. 

Will it work? Seems only time and Reels will tell…

Well, in a move that is unsurprising to all if you have been paying attention, TikTok looks to be adding a new app to their umbrella—TikTok Music is coming!

According to new patent filings, it seems that TikTok’s parent company ByteDance filed a trademark application for TikTok Music in May in the US and has already secured its trademark in Australia last year. 

ByteDance already has a music app called Resso that is launched in India, Brazil, and Indonesia and it seems the features are the same as what TikTok Music is planning on being. 

As the music industry is all about going viral on TikTok, it’s not a shock that this is the next area TikTok is going to try and take over.

Well, we all knew it was going to happen. It was only a matter of time. Instagram now allows you to take video from both your front and back-facing camera to capture images from both at the same time.

You know, kinda like BeReal.
